We recently donated our sponsorship space on the back of the Aberdeen F.C. home and away shirts to the Russell Anderson Foundation, for the group stages of the UEFA Europa Conference League. We hope this will generate more interest in the charity as it receives Europe-wide exposure.
Established by the former Dons’ legend and Scotland international in 2012, the foundation’s main purpose is to support children in socially deprived areas of Aberdeen. Over the years it has gone on to deliver school sports coaching sessions, food and community support, age-specific health and wellbeing workshops, a Young Leaders programme to boost self-esteem and confidence, holiday camps and festivals, and an NHS-backed initiative providing classroom-based presentations and practical lessons, such as basic first aid and dental hygiene.
We’ve partnered with the foundation for over five years, contributing to a variety of initiatives during that time. Most recently we supported the roll-out of after school clubs across Aberdeen, involving nine schools and 410 pupils – including Managing Director Jim Stewart’s former school, Woodside Primary.
Commenting on the ongoing partnership with the Russell Anderson Foundation, our lifelong Aberdeen F.C. fan Jim said: “I’m delighted about this development that will see the great work of the charity receive more exposure through the UEFA Europa Conference League. I hope the additional awareness created will amplify the cause and lead more children to benefit from the excellent programmes that provide really useful life skills, while enhancing classroom learning through sport. Russell has created something really special here, and I’m proud to play our part in its continual growth.”
